Many floors are designed to be replaced.
We think that's wrong.
Where it started
The waste was impossible to ignore.
Thirty years of fitting floors gives you a particular kind of knowledge. You see what goes in. You see what comes out. Rooms ripped apart every eight to ten years. Tonnes of plastic-backed vinyl, formaldehyde-bound laminate and petroleum-derived LVT removed and, too often, destined for landfill. Materials that can take significant resources to produce, yet are often replaced long before the end of their potential life.
The connection between the materials in our homes and the wellbeing of the people living in them is real. And largely ignored.
Why cork
The answer was growing back.
Cork was the answer to a question that had been building for three decades. A material harvested from living bark, the tree never felled, the forest left whole. No PVC. No phthalates. Collections certified to stringent low-emission standards for the spaces your family lives in.
A floor designed to last, bringing natural comfort and very low indoor emissions to the home — and, when it reaches the end of its life, designed to be recyclable.
Other floors can ask something of the planet. Cork is different. Our collections are different.
Use materials that are thoughtfully chosen with environmental responsibility in mind
The person behind it
Built by someone who had seen enough.
Steven has spent many years in the flooring industry. Over time, his focus has increasingly shifted towards health and wellbeing. That shift was not accidental. The materials we choose for our homes contribute to the environments we live in, yet this important connection is often overlooked.
He is a husband, a father of two, a nature lover, someone who takes long walks and pays attention. Natrul is a family business that began with a desire to rethink what flooring can be — naturally, thoughtfully and responsibly.
The aim is to change the way we think about materials — from what we choose to what happens to them next.
Steven Myers, Founder
The decisions compound. The floor beneath your feet is one of them.
What we believe
Materials matter more than marketing.
A good floor does not need a hard sell. It needs to be experienced. That is why we send free samples to your door before asking you to commit.
Honesty outlasts hype.
Cork is suitable for most rooms, but not every product is suitable for every application. We will always be honest about where our products are — and aren't — suitable. We'd rather lose a sale than lose your trust.
The floor is the foundation.
The surface you walk on every day, your children crawl on, your dog sleeps on. It shapes the feel of every room in your home. That choice deserves more thought than most people give it.
