The bark of the cork oak. The bark is stripped by hand and regrows, so the tree is never felled. Granorte in Portugal turns it into floor planks, floor tiles and wall tiles.

Cork is harvested from living trees, which are not felled. The floating floors are made from more than 80% renewable raw materials and the glue-down tiles from more than 85% natural cork. None of the floors contain PVC. FSC® certified products are available on request.

Naturals and Recolour floating floors and Naturals Fix tiles are Class 33, commercial heavy. Recolour Fix tiles are Class 34, commercial very heavy. All under EN ISO 10874.

The floors fulfil the AgBB scheme and French VOC Classification A+, and Granorte cork floating floors are GREENGUARD Gold certified by UL. The HDF core in the floating floors is formaldehyde class E1, and no formaldehyde-containing materials are added to the glue-down tiles.

Floating floors are 10.5 mm planks that click together with the Uniclic® system over an integrated acoustic cork underlay, with no adhesive. Glue-down tiles are 4 mm and are bonded to the subfloor with contact adhesive for a permanent floor with a low build-up.

Not for the floating floors, which have a 1.5 mm CleanCork underlay built in. On concrete and other mineral subfloors a PE vapour barrier goes down first.

Yes. All floor ranges are suitable for hot-water and electric underfloor heating up to a surface temperature of 28°C.

Yes, if you would like us to. We can supply the cork to your own contractor, with the laying instructions and technical data they need, or supply and install it with approved installers we manage across Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, Surrey and London. Either way, one person looks after your project from start to finish.

It must be flat, dry and structurally sound. The Granorte laying instructions set out the requirements, and we can advise on the conditions on your site.

Hotel rooms and corridors, yoga and Pilates studios, treatment rooms, offices, shops and restaurants. We will help you choose the format and use class to suit the traffic.

Bathrooms and wet rooms are excluded from the manufacturer's warranty, so we do not specify cork floors there.

Cork has a low thermal conductivity, so the surface feels warmer than stone or ceramic. Thermal resistance is 0.10 m²·K/W for the floating floors and 0.05 m²·K/W for the glue-down tiles.

Yes. Cork reduces impact sound, and the floating floors reach ΔLw 19 dB with their integrated acoustic underlay.

Every design is made to order in Portugal for your project: allow at least 6 to 8 weeks from order. The expected lead time is confirmed with your quotation.

Recolour, Wabi and Carioca have a minimum of 30 m² per design. For the other ranges, any minimum is confirmed with your quotation.

Yes. The data sheets for the floor and wall ranges are on the Technical page, and we can include them with your samples.

Cork is a natural material, so colour and grain vary between batches and between planks. Samples show the typical character of a design rather than an exact match.

Vacuum or dry sweep to remove grit, then damp mop with a well-wrung mop and a pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid bleach, solvents and abrasive cleaners. The care guide on the Technical page has the full routine.

For the floors, Granorte warrants that the surface finish will not wear through within 5 years of commercial use, with normal use and proper maintenance, under its warranty terms. Bathrooms and wet rooms are excluded. For the wall tiles, Granorte certifies the product free from manufacturing and structural defects, and the commercial warranty terms are confirmed with your quotation.

Yes. Installations we manage carry a five-year guarantee on the workmanship.
